ANIMAL UNDERSTANDING/COMMUNICATION
One of the main reasons why people summon Caim is due to his ability to understand animal speech, and also his ability to impart that knowledge to his summoners. He generally has more of an affinity towards dogs and birds, but ultimately can understand most animals. Certainly helps with his cover story of being a veterinarian while in the human world.
DIVINATION
Caim's ability to understand and see future events, while useful, is also fairly particular in how it works. He has to use burning coals or ashes in order to communicate what he sees, and even then, future events aren't always set in stone, or even clear on how said events occur. It's a skill he doesn't usually like using, mostly due to the uncertainty tied to it. Unfortunately for him, between his two specialties as a demon, it tends to be the more popular one when he is summoned.
SHAPESHIFTING
Caim also has the ability to shapeshift to a degree. Not only in that he has a human form that can be subtly shifted to help mask himself if need be, but he also can shapeshift into a bird (he usually takes the form of a large raven), or most other animals, so long as he can have a clear picture of what they look like in his mind. He is able to retain his mind during these transformations, though the longer he's in animal form, the more likely he is to eventually succumb to those base instincts.
HISTORY
With rows that formed an aisle in through which I passed
Caim doesn't talk about the time before his Fall, when he was one of the many angels that served God. He does remember how painful it was, to Fall and be born anew. At first, he took to his newfound status fairly quickly once he adjusted to his life as a demon, and quickly rose among the ranks of Hell. But eventually, things just stopped being interesting. It got boring to be summoned to read a future that could just as likely not happen as it could, or to sweet-talk some general's war horses to becoming more loyal to their masters than they already were, willing to die for them when self-preservation would normally take over.
After a few centuries, maybe even a millennia (it all blended together after a while, unfortunately), Caim was sick of it all. He wanted out. But it wasn't easy for a demon to leave Hell, or at least without being summoned in some capacity.
But if nothing else, Caim was stubborn. And so he studied. And started making preparations any time he was summoned, to anchor himself to the mortal plane more and more until one day, after completing a contract, he didn't feel the usual pull. He could freely move along in the human world. Utilizing some charms and talismans that he had stockpiled, he was able to suppress his aura and powers, passing as human. He's currently settled down in a small apartment, working as a veterinarian. A subtle nod to his powers, perhaps, but he did generally prefer the company of animals over people.
